The Morning Journey, Wolves in the Wild

Before the sun rose to light the sky, howling erupted at the base of a rock cliff, above the Yellowstone River. More than 20 wolves were greeting the day and their chorus echoed for miles around.

About an hour later, the wolves showed up, traveling in a line through sagebrush and across the hills, some times in sunshine and others in shadows. As the wolves traveled, a small family group of bison saw or heard them coming and gathered together in a tight group. Bison will gather close, to look larger and more intimidating to the wolves, and they will chase and fight, if necessary, to protect themselves and each other. The wolves traveled right past the bison and continued on, into their day.
